Summer Time
I'm quickly learning that summer time is the busiest time of year. When we don't have a big family vacation planned, we fill our days with smaller events. Then when you times that by five kids and two adults it keeps our calendar full!
Austin, Hayden and Sara did a two week tennis camp and really enjoyed it. We need to actually go and play tennis one of these days. Maybe they could teach their mom something. Now they've started a four day golf camp.
Todd and Nikki ran in the 15k Freedom Run on the 3rd of July. It fits right into our training schedule for the half marathon, so we get up early on the holiday weekend and head up the canyon, try not to freeze, and then run 9 miles for the first time this year. It's a great run. We had many neighbors, family members and familiar faces running as well. We finished together and we're happy with our time. It does teach us each year that the half is within our reach, BUT we still need to keep training.
The 4th of July weekend was completely typical and just how we like it. Fireworks (city and home), BBQ's, town carnival, parades, boating, yardwork....good American fun!
Date night is a continuing tradition in our family. Either Todd or Nikki goes once a month with one of the kids on a date. One-on-one time is hard to come by in a house full of people, so we get away for a while to talk and eat and do something fun. This year we've added Sadie and Carson to the schedule, and this was Carson's first date. We went to the neighbors for a little horse back riding. Carson was pretty shy, but I believe he liked riding Addie. She was just the right size and it was fun to see him try something new.

Sara finished up her first softball season, and it was a success even with mom helping coach! Sara did great, even if her Grandpa says she throws like a girl. We had a little end on season party at our house with water games and treats. The team was a bunch of cute girls. Softball is always more fun when it's kept to under an hour and involves a snack after.

June If For...
Nibley Heritage Days
Each June our city of Nibley holds Heritage Days that is a week filled with fun family activities. Our family has loved celebrating this week each year, and this year was no exception. We live in a great place! There was sidewalk chalk, the swimnight that gets rained out every year, the Mayors dinner, the Jon Schmidt concert and the fireworks...these we enjoyed but didn't get pictures of.
The girls got to ride in the parade as princesses.
The boys got to ride in Grandma and Grandpa Reeder's jeep in the parade to advertise the carnival. They decided it is much more fun to be in the parade than be a spectator on the side.
Most of us participated in the fun run....Sara, Austin and Jaren did the 1 mile-Todd, Nikki and Hayden did the 5k.
Todd rode the mechanical bull at the carnival and I'm hoping he never decides to be a cowboy...one turn and he was off!!
Grandma, Terri and Misty set up the booth to sell our goods and raise money for our Relay For Life team.
We enjoyed the bike parade, which actually started off the week. Nikki was in charge of this event and part of the Saturday Carnival. It made the week seem even more hectic to help out, but we enjoy the week so much we felt like we needed to support the cause.
Of course the biggest highlite for us is the children's play which was "Sleeping Beauty, Western Style". The kids practice for a week and a half each day and then perform two nights in the ampitheater at a park close to home. Austin was cast as Territorial Govenor Jim Longhorn, Hayden played the part of Wing Ding Lee, Master chef of Hong Kong, Sara was a villager and Sadie was in the Little Lark group. They all did such a great job and we love watching them perform.
This week is a great way to kick off our summer....can't wait until next year!
Dam Fun :)
Saturday was HOT, so we headed to Hyrum Dam for our first boating excursion of the season, and Sadie's first boat ride ever. Carson doesn't remember boating, so it felt like his first time. The Gladiator tube didn't disappoint and we had fun in the sun and nice cool water!
We started out pulling Sadie very slowly and she kept giving us the o.k. to speed up. Of course we couldn't go fast enough for Austin and Hayden...especially when mom keeps telling dad to slow down!
